Happy Valentine's Day

Last year at this time, I was so happy in all areas of my life. I had, what I thought was a wonderful man in my life. I reached this day with some amount a dread. I was back to the old ways of Valentine's Day, no special person to spend the day or evening with. That was until I realized I had the best in my house already.

We had a wonderful day. It started out this morning, with Kiran giving me her special project she made in school yesterday. It was 6 huge chocolate covered strawberries. Yes, she did keep them in the refrigerator. She then apologized for not making me a card. After I ate the first strawberry, she looked at me and said, "Mommy, is that going to cost you points?" Ok, the kid knows I am on Weight Watchers again. She was concerned that she was adding on to my day that I had planned out last night. Of course these points are free I told her.

The day at school was wild but fun. I really do love my class.

Then, this evening we spent over an hour just talking in her room, snuggling, and reading stories. She read me two books and read her 4. She is so proud of herself when she can read a book to me. It is so amazing watching her sound out words. I watch her and almost cry. Who needs a boyfriend? I am so happy with what I have.....

PS-Al Franken announced he is running for Paul Wellstone's senate seat. I wish him all the luck in the world. It is time to get Norm Coleman out of that chamber.

Aww, sweet post Mary.

Happy belated Valentine's Day to you and Kiran.

adorable! :)

happy belated!
i fell off the edge for awhile there, but for now i'm happy to have time and desire to revisit my blogger hang-outs!
glad you realized that love is good no matter who you are sharing it with. valentine's day with a wonderful daughter is better than one with a so-so man....
we watched "a prarie home companion" last night and chris told me mickey's dinercar is right close by in st. paul. next time i'm there we can meet for breakfast!

i love al franken!
smart as a whip and great satirical sense of humor.

Wrote a reply to this and Blogger decided it didn't like me, so here we go again!

Yes, you have the best! Something made instead of bought; it doesn't get any better!

And then there's that snuggling and reading...

Yes, when Franken wins that might be a bit like having Will Rogers in the Senate!

:o)

Mary,
I am thrilled about Al Frankens announcement.
The thought of another 6 years of Coleman sitting in Paul Wellstones seat makes me ill.
Whether Al is the nominee or not
we will be united and boot Norm out..
Get involved in the campaign..it should be a fun one...

Sometimes, we have to take a second to be thankful for the things we have..... and what you have, my friend is LOVE.

Wonderful post and happy belated Valentine's Day!

DON~

You two alive? What's the skinny in your neck of the woods?

I found your blog the other day and devoured the entire thing! Love it! I am on the path to one day adopt, probably as a single mom...and India is my top choice! So I will be sticking around reading your blog for a while!!

Let me know if there are other India adoption blogs out there...I cannot find a single one other than this great one!!

Thanks!!

It's March. Where are ya?
