Winter Fun

She may be from India but she sure loves everything about the snow. Wish me luck, tomorrow I am taking her skating for the first time. I haven't been on a pair of skates in 30 years.

She experienced her first teasing at school this week. On Thursday, she wanted to wear a bindi to school. It matched her outfit and she looks so cute with one on. It seems that ALL the boys made fun of it so she took it off and said it was the last time she would wear one. It made me sad that she is thinking that way but I am sure she will change her mind one of these days.

Sorry, I haven't been around much. Life is just so busy and then there is that other website.....

Hope all is well with everyone.
Comments:
I'm so sorry she got teased. It's harder for girls--I don't know why; Liam wears blue nail polish to school sometimes--he likes it--and the teasing is different than the kind Maisie would get for far less "bizarre" social-rules infractions. And once they've been burned, I know it's hard for them to try it again. (Maybe next time she can bring in bindis for everyone?...) Sigh.

Hugs to Kiran--and her Mom, too.

wow, snow-angels, looks like she is having fun.

BAS! = boys are stupid...say no more.

hope you had fun skating, i wish i was in good enough health to try that again. I loved to skate on the Rideau Canal, but i saw on the news last week that it has not frozen over!

Let it snow; let it snow; let it snow.

Aw, tell Kiran I would love to see a picture of her w/ her bindi.

Boys...

Snow angel? Too cool. I can only make dirt angels here in So CA

What other website Mary???

Yes we would love to see a photo of Kiran with her bindi?

Ps..How was the skating..?

They will tease her right up until they decide she's the most beautiful girl they've ever seen, then wonder why she thinks they're such jerks!

Glad to know you are doing well!

Great photos!

How fun so watch someone making a "snow angel".

I am no longer fond of cold weather or snow, but it does photograph beautifully!

As for the teasing, as much as it might hurt at the moment, it will make her stronger. Encourage her to remain proud of her heritage.

huggss to you both!

Kids will tease about anything different. One of my sons freaks out EVERY time he gets a haircut because he KNOWS someone at school will tease him.

So I armed him with humourous comebacks. And now I think he hopes someone will make a comment so he can twist it into a joke.

When she's older, travel to Northern Calif with her (or some other area with a large Indian population). She'll see she blends right in. It's all perspective.

And what a GORGEOUS snow angel! You are such a wonderful Mom!

BTW...blending in is nice....but "standing out" is better in my never to be humble opinion! :) lol Just not always easy when we are young.
